Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a device for carrying out detection of existence of a specific substance and surveilance of dielectric constant of the material by providing a microwave transmitter, a transmission antenna, a receiving antenna for receiving reflection waves, a microwave receiver, and a dielectric constant discriminating circuit.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a microwave transmitter 15, a transmitting antenna 14 arranged to have a specific angle i1 with respect to a surface 19 to be measured, an antenna 16 provided at an angle i2 with respect to the surface 19 to be measured, and receiving microwaves reflected from a specific substance, and a receiver 17 for detecting electric field intensity of the microwave. In addition, there is also provided a discriminating circuit 18 for discriminating the dielectric constant of the substance by detecting the power reflection ratio of the substance from the receiving power level. Microwaves generated from the transmitter 15 are projected on the surface of the substance, which is the object of measurement, through the transmission antenna 14 and reflected, and thereafter received by the receiving antenna 16, whereupon the dielectric constant is discriminated by the discriminating circuit
