Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the characteristics of a gas to be measured, by measuring the difference between the propagation velocities of ultrasonic waves in the reference gas and the gas to be measured. CONSTITUTION:When different gases are filled in vessels 1a, 1b respectively, and an electric signal is applied to an input terminal 5, said signal is converted to an ultrasonic wave signal via transducers 2a, 3a for an input, thereby an ultrasonic wave to be radiated in gas. Said ultrasonic wave propagates in gas within respective vessels 1a, 1b and is received with transducers 2b, 3b for an output, and after being converted to an electric signal, supplied to output terminals 6a, 6b. Between the outputs taken out from the two transducers 2, 3 for input and output, a phase difference corresponding to the difference of propagation velocity of the ultrasonic wave in gas is produced. Said device functions effectively even in a case of measurement for a difference of the ultrasonic wave produced by conditions such as a temperature difference or a concentration difference or gas pressure in a case of the same kind of gas.
