Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible accurate liquid level measurement by a method wherein use is made of the variation of the impedance of an ultrasonic transducer which is actuated by different waves depending on different acoustic media. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave driving current outputted from a power source 9 is transmitted to each of the transducers 71-7n via each signal cable 13 and the transducers 71-7n supply related ultrasonic waves in the direction parallel with the liquid level of each cooling material A. Due to the difference between 2 phases of a gas and a liquid in an acoustic medium, the current.acoustic coupling impedance of the transducers 71-7n changes with a liquid level as a boundary, while the impedance of the transducer 71 located in steam becomes larger than that of the transducers 72-7n within the cooling medium. Changes in impedance are judged as the presence of a liquid level as their current values are compared with the specified standard value by a comparator 11. The results obtained are displayed in a liquid level indicator 12.
