Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable measurement of even a comparatively low velocity of flow at an improved precision, by a method wherein, in an ultrasonic velocity of flow measurement system, a transmitting ultrasonic transducer and two receiving ultrasonic transducers, which consist of a piezoelectric material and a pair of comb teeth- shaped electrodes mounted on the surface of said material. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic transducer, consisting of a piezoelectric material 10 and a pair of comb teeth-shaped electrodes 11a and 11b, which are positioned interdigitally, irradiates ultrasonic waves through the application of an alternating current voltage to the electrodes, and conversely, it outputs an electric signal for wave- receiving. A transmitting transducer 22 and wave-receiving transducers 23 and 24 are placed to measure a velocity of flow of a fluid 20 in a flow path 21. A difference between propagation time from the transducer 22 to the transducers 23 and 24 is decided according to the velocity of flow, and can be obtained from a detecting circuit 25 corresponding to a phase difference between the signals of the transducers 23 and 24.
