Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a constitution with no mechanical movable part for the sensor and thus to obtain a small-size device featuring a high duarability by installing two units of receivers in opposition to each other at the positions equidistant from the sound wave transmitter and then detecting the time difference of arrival of the sound wave to the two receivers. CONSTITUTION:Receivers B and C are installed at the positions equidistant from sound wave transmitter A. In addition to these component parts, amplifiers AMP1 and 2, phase shifter PS and phase meter PM are provided. The coincidence is obtained between the flowing direction of the fluid and the BC line to feature BC= 2l and BAC=2theta. Thus the phase difference equivalent to time difference dt of arrival of sound waves featuring frequency f to B and C from transmitter A at the flowing speed of V becomes approximately as shown in the right equation. Accordingly, the flowing speed can be detected by detecting dt. In such way, the sensor having no mechanical movable part can be used, thus obtaining a small-size and high-durability flowing speed measuring device in various types.
