Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance corrosion resistance and reduce a dimensional change of a Mg material, by sequentially forming on Mg a manganese oxide film containing a fluoride, P, and Al, a silane coupling agent film, and a paraxylylene polymer film.
CONSTITUTION: Mg or a Mg alloy is anodized in an anodizing solution consisting of an aqueous solution containing a fluoride, phosphate, alkali metal hydroxide, permanganate, and aluminum hydroxide, to form a manganese oxide film containing the fluoride, P, and Al. Then, this is treated with a solution of a silane coupling agent and methanol to form a silane coupling agent film on the manganese oxide film. On the produced film, a paraxylylene or substituted paraxylylene film is formed by using a dimer of paraxylylene or substituted paraxylylene as raw material. In this process, the silane coupling agent film improves the bonding property of the xylylene polymer film.
