Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an opaque colored film of mild color tones by subjecting the Al formed with an anodized film to a DC electrolytic treatment in a phosphoric acid soln. then to an electrolytic coloring treatment by an aq. metallic salt soln. and electrophoretic painting.
CONSTITUTION: After an Al product is formed with an anodized film on the surface by an ordinary method, it is subjected to an AC electrolytic treatment in an aq. acidic soln. of 0.3W3.5pH contg. 10g/lW a satd. amt. ≥1 kind of phosphoric acid, phosphorous acid or their salts or with the Al product as the anode, it is subjected to a DC electrolytic treatment, whereby the surface is converted to a transparent silver white color having a tinge of slight white color. This product is subjected to an AC electrolytic treatment in an aq. soln. contg. salts of Ni, Co, Sn and other coloring metals, so that the surface is colored. Finally, the product is subjected to electrophoretic painting by using a soln. prepd. by dissolving various kinds of resins for paint in water or an org. solvent. The opaque colored film of elegant and mild color tones having no cold metallic feeling is formed on the surface of the Al product. The treatment by the aq. phosphate soln. and the electrolytic coloring treatment may be accomplished simultaneously or in reverse order.
