Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce suitable patterns of colored films of high corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance on the surface of a watch band by a physical vapor deposition method by removing the colored film of titanium compound on the surface of said band partially by electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:A colored film 2 of a titanium compound such as titanium nitride is formed by ion plating method on the surface of a watch band 1 made of stainless steel. Thereafter, partial masking 3 is applied by a masking agent through screen printing or the like thereon. If in this state the film is anodically electrolyzed with a soln. of a fluoride or a nitric acid or both as electrolyte, the parts 4 of said colored film not applied with the masking 3 can be removed. Thereafter, the masking 3 is removed, by which the partial film 5 of the colored film of the titanium compound is obtained, and the surface of the watch band is diversified by the combination of this and the color of stainless steel 6.
