Abstract

PURPOSE: To color an Al alloy contg. Cu to a pure black color having depth by anodizing said alloy in electrolyte consisting essentially of a sulfonic acid or an org. acid contg. sulfonic group.
CONSTITUTION: Various moldings formed of an Al alloy contg. 0.3W2.0% Cu and consisting of Al with its impurities for the balance are anodized in the electrolyte consisting essentially of a sulfonic acid or an org. acid contg. sulfonic groups, for example, sulfophthalic acid, sulfosalycilic acid or the like. By this anodic oxidation treatment, the colored film of pure black color having depth which could not hitherto been obtained is formed.
