Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide excellent paint adherence, by forming a chromate film by performing a cathode treatment in anhydrous chromic acid solution after performing the cathode electrolytic treatment of the steel sheet on which a tin plating layer or an iron-tin alloy layer has been formed in a bath of alkali salt.
CONSTITUTION: Tin plating is performed on the surface of a steel sheet or further, an iron-tin alloy layer is formed by heating a tin plating layer. The cathode electrolytic treatment of the steel sheet is performed in the bath of alkali sait. Sodium carbonate, sodium dicarbonate are used as alkali salts. The oxide of tin formed on the surface of the tin plating layer, the iron-tin alloy layer is reduced by this treatment and the surface is activated. Then, the cathode treatment of this steel plate is performed in anhydrous chromic acid solution and a chromate film is formed on the surface of the tin plating layer or the iron-tin alloy layer.
