Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress degradation of bonding adhesiveness of the chromium-chromate steel plate used for beverage cans, etc. by controlling the S/O, O/Cr and oxo degree in chromate film at fixed values or more.
CONSTITUTION: The thickness of the chromium hydroxide layer of the upper layer of the chromium-chromate steel plate is made 0.05W0.3mg/dm2 as Cr. Further O/Cr<2.7, S/O<0.15 and oxo degree is controlled at 0.90 or more. To this end, the steel plate is washed in high-temperature water whose pH has been controlled to 7±0.2 or it is subjected to cathodic electrolysis in a solt solution of chromic acid without containing sulfate groups or ammonium chloride, etc. This treatment enables O/Cr, S/O and oxo degree of more than the specified values to be obtained, improves adhesive strength of the chromium-chromate steel plate by adhesive agents and suppresses peeling, etc. of the bonded faces owing to the effect of contents.
