Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a cathode for nickel and nickel alloy plating by which elution of aluminum of a core material in a plating bath under use is obviated by constituting a composite material disposed with aluminum for the core material, an insoluble metallic material for an outer layer and nickel for an intermediate layer.
CONSTITUTION: Nickel is disposed in the intermediate layer in order to prevent elution of aluminum, and its thickness is preferably 0.2W2mm. Tantalumn, niobium, platinum, etc. may be used other than stainless steel and titanium used heretofore for the insoluble metallic material of the outer layer. By the use of this as cathode, the good plating treatment is accomplished without contaminating a nickel or nickel alloy plating bath.
