Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a cathode for lead and lead alloy plating by which elution of aluminum of a core material in a plating bath under use is obviated by constituting a composite material disposed with aluminum for the core material, an insoluble metallic material for an outer layer and lead for an intermediate layer.
CONSTITUTION: Lead is disposed in the intermediate layer in order to prevent elution of aluminum, and the thickness of lead of the intermediate layer is preferably about 0.2W2mm. Tantalumn, niobium, platinum, etc. are used other than stainless steel and titanium used heretofore for the insoluble metallic material of the outer layer. By the use of this as cathode, the good plating treatment is accomplished without contaminating a lead or lead alloy plating bath.
