Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform impurity removal from molten iron continuously by using a bottom blown converter or resembling blown vessel in removing Si, S, P, C from molten iron. CONSTITUTION:Blast furnace molten iron is charged into a Q-BOP furnace and pulverized lime is blown through a furnace bottom tuyere by a pure oxygen gas, whereby temperature elevation and desiliconization are accomplished. Upon ending of the desiliconization, the carrier gas is changed over to N2 and CaO is blown through the furnace bottom tuyere, whereby desulfurization is accomplished. After this, again the gas is changed over to an oxygen gas and decarbonization and dephosphorization are accomplished while a dephosphorizing agent is being blown. By this treatment, C is controlled to about 1-3%, Si to a trace, Mo to about 0.2%, P to about 0.02-0.03% and S to about 0.01%. The molten iron having undergone such treatments is charged into an LD converter or Q-BOP furnace, where it is subjected to decarbonization process.
