Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform refining which is balanced in quality and economy by arranging the removal processes which are divided to four independent processes; desiliconizing, dephosphorizing, decarbonizing and desulfurizing in this order in the entire refininf process from molten iron to molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: In the 1st process, iron oxide is added to the molten iron flowing out from a blast furnace or the molten iron is put into a vessel and iron oxide is blown by a carrier gas which is an inert gas, whereby silicon content is lowered to 0.1W0.2%, and the formed slag is separated. In the 2nd process, a dephosphorizing agent consisting essentially of iron oxide and CaO is blown by a carrier gas which is an inert gas into the molten iron in the vessel, whereby phosphorus content is lowered to 0.015W0.04% and the formed slag is removed. In the 3rd process, decarburizing reaction is accelerated and the temp. is elevated by converter blowing. In the 4th process, a desulfurizing agent consisting essentially of CaO is blown by a carrier gas which is an inert gas into the molten steel in the vessel after tapping, whereby the desulfurization treatment is executed.
