Abstract

PURPOSE:To refine molten iron efficiently by adding soda ash and iron oxide to the molten iron in a ladle after desiliconization by adding iron oxide to the molten iron, through a nozzle immersed at its leading end into said molten iron, thereby dephosphorizing and desiliconizing the molten iron then decarburizing and refining the same in a pure oxygen top blown furnace. CONSTITUTION:In a flow passage 14 for molten iron for containing the molten iron tapped from a blast furnace 11 into a ladle 12, solid oxide is added from a chute 15 to the molten iron or gaseous oxide from a nozzle 16, and further solid oxide is added from a chute 17 into the molten iron dropping into the ladle 12, whereby the molten iron is desiliconized. Next, the ladle 12 of contg. the molten iron 10 after the desiliconization is transferred up to the installation position of a slag removing device by means of a carriage 13, and the slag 9 floating on the melt surface in the ladle 12 is removed, after which the ladle is moved up to the position where a dephosphorizing device is installed. In the installation position of the dephosphorizing device, soda ash, iron oxide, carrier gas and gaseous O2 are blown respectively thrugh lances 20 and 21, 21 into the molten iron in the ladle 12, whereby the molten iron is dephosphorized.
