Abstract
PURPOSE:To economically dephosphorize and desulfurize desiliconized molten iron efficiently by adding a dephosphorizing agent based on 2CaO.SiO2 to the iron, further adding a solid oxidizing agent and/or O2 to dephosphorize the iron, and carrying out desulfurization in the presence of soda ash. CONSTITUTION:To desiliconized molten iron contg. preferably <=0.15wt% Si is added a dephosphorizing agent based on 2CaO.SiO2 corresponding to 3-6 times as much CaO as Si. After adding the agent, a solid oxidizing agent such as iron ore other iron oxide-base material and/or O2 is blown into the iron through a lance or added to the iron and agitated to dephosphorize the iron. Without discharging slag, soda ash is blown into the dephosphorized iron through a lance or added to the iron and agitated to desulfurize the iron.
