Abstract
PURPOSE:To dephosphorize the hot metal, by adding converter slag having high iron oxide content and low P2O5, SiO2 content to the hot metal discharged from a blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:Converter refined slag containing P2O5 by <1.8%, SiO2 by < 12.5%, (FeO+Fe2O3) by >30%, CaO/SiO2 by >3.5% is added to the hot metal discharged from a blast furnace by 25-100kg per 1 ton of hot metal, depending on the Si content in the hot metal. First, Si is oxidized by iron oxide in the converter slag to desiliconize to less than 0.10%, and the produced SiO2 is compounded with CaO to stabilize. Then, P is oxidized by the iron oxide in the slag to P2O5 to make into a stable slag in the form of (CaO)4P2O5. As for the refined converter slag used in this case, the converter molten slag is cooled slowly, and sorted into two layers differing in the P2O5 content, and the slag of the lower P2O5 content is used.
