Abstract
PURPOSE:To dephosphorize and desulfurize molten iron with a small amount of slug while suppressing the decarburization by charging a specific refining agent and iron oxide to the molten iron having been decreased of the content of silicon thereby maintaining the refined slag of a desirable state. CONSTITUTION:The refining agent comprising 0.2-0.5pt.wt. CaCl2 and/or KCl based on 1pt.wt. CaO is charged to molten iron of 0.003-0.25% Si, and iron oxide is charged dividedly, thence the molten iron is strongly stirred to maintain the basicity (CaO/SiO2) of the refined slag at 3.5-8.0 and 5%>T.Fe amount>=3%. Then, the slag is formed stably, and the molten iron is quickly dephosphorized and desulfurized while its decarburization is suppressed.
