Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce clean Al-contg. steel by adding an Si-contg. material to the molten steel after refining by decarbonization to deoxidize the steel by Si, adding specific flux thereto to reduce the activity of SiO2 and further adding an Al-contg. material.
CONSTITUTION: In the stage of tapping the molten steel refined by decarbonization into a ladle, an Si-contg. material is added thereto to deoxidize the same by Si and the slag floating on the surface of the molten steel is removed as far as possible. Next, CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-CaF2 type flux is blown with an inert gas as a carrier gas into the molten steel in the ladle to control the activity of the SiO2 which is the product of deoxidation formed by this to ≤10-3. The flux is added at about 0.5W30kg amts. per ton of the molten steel. Thence, the molten steel is forcibly agitated, after which a required amt. of Al is added to the molten steel so as to conform to the required value of solAl, whereby the concn. of solAl as Al-killed steel is adjusted.
