Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic heating element material undergoing little resistance change with the passage of time in a certain temp. range and capable of being used for a long time by adjusting the Cr content of an Fe-Ni-Cr alloy to a specified amount and the wt. ratio of Fe to Ni to a specified value.
CONSTITUTION: This metallic heating element material is an Fe-Ni-Cr alloy consisting of 15W25wt% Cr and the balance Fe and Ni in (4:1)W(1:4) weight ratio. By adjusting this alloy composition as stated above a resistance change with the passage of time can be controlled for a long time. This material can be used especially at about 300W500°C for several ten thousands hours as a heating element and it is effective as a heating element material for the heater of a gas sensor, etc.
