Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive iron-based sintered alloy to be used for vane having excellent wear and scuffing resistances having a specific chemical composition in which an Fe-Cr-C hard alloy phase with a specific composition is evenly dispersed in a basic texture such as tempered martensite, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture, consisting of 1W4% an alloy powder containing 1W 6% C, 40W70% Cr, and iron, 0.8W1.4% graphite powder, 3W8% Ni powder, 2W 5% an iron-silicon alloy powder containing 10W19% Si, and iron powder, is moded by a compression molding method with a pressure of 5t/cm2 or more. The molding thus obtained is sintered at 1,100W1,180°C in a nonoxidative atmosphere to obtain a sintered alloy, and then the sintered alloy is heated to 800W950°C, quickly cooled for hardening, and then tempered at 200W400°C, whereby obtaining an iron-based sintered alloy having a composition in which an Fe-Cr-C hard alloy phase containing 1W6% C, 40W70% Cr, and iron is uniformly dispersed into a basic texture such as tempered martensite, etc., to form an alloy composition containing 0.81W1.64% C, 0.4W2.8% Cr, 3W8% Ni, 0.2W0.95% Si, and Fe, which is suitable for rotary compressor requiring excellent wear resistance.
