Abstract
PURPOSE:To strengthen nonmagnetic property retaining corrosion resistance, workability and mechanical properties by adjusting Ni balance and Ni equivalent of Ni-Cr group austenite stainless steel or further making heat treatment and hot working. CONSTITUTION:In a steel ingot or a continuous casting ingot of austenite stainless steel containing <0.03% C, <0.50% Si, 1-3% Mn, 9.6-10.6% Ni, 18-19% Cr, 0.05-0.09% N, 2-6% segregated delta ferrite remains and some magnetism remains. To eliminate this magnetism and strengthen nonmagnetic property, austenite is stabilized by making Ni equivalent represented by the expression [I]25 and making Ni balance represented by the expression[II]-0.5-1.5. Further, it is made nonmagnetic by decomposing and eliminating residual ferrite by hot working at <=80 forging ratio after keeping at 1,100-1,280 deg.C for 6-15hr.
