Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve magnetic property of stainless steel containing Cr and manufacture soft magnetic material of excellent corrosion resistance by performing specified heat treatment to stainless steel containing specified amount of Cr or further Ni, Mo, Nb, Ta.
CONSTITUTION: It is stainless steel which contains C<0.0080%, N<0.015%, 0<0.015%, 12W24% Cr, or further Ni<3% or 3W4% Mo, and Nb, Ta which satisfy the following equation. After the stainless steel containing Nb, Ta which satisfy (80×C%-0.08%)≥(Nb%+1/2Ta%)≥(80×C%-0.24%) is finally worked, it is heated at 1,250°C for 10W40min, then it is annealed by quenching at a cooling speed 100W500°C/sec over the temperature range from this temperature at least to 300°C. Stainless steel as soft magnet material of excellent magnetic property and corrosion resistance is manufactured.
