Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable high-level denitrification without requiring a reaction tank of large capacity and reagents such as a neutralizing agent, by shortening intervals of anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment when alternating the above treatments in a single reaction tank by a batch system.
CONSTITUTION: Original waste water is fed from receiving tank 1 by pump 2, and returned waste sludge by pump 10 to elevated tank 3 continuously. Through automatic valve 4 operating intermittently by timer control system 11, a set batch amount of the waste water is fed to reaction tank 5. This water injection is carried out concentratedly in the beginning when the process in tank 5 changes into an anaerobic process and organic components in the waste water are utilized for denitrification to the maximum extent. The anaerobic reaction of this liquid is carried out by stirrer 6 and takes about 2W15min. Then, system 11 puts blower 7 into operation to carry out aerobic reaction in tank 5 normally 1.5W3 times as long as the said period. The blowing is stopped nearly at its end and valve 8 is opened to discharge the processed liquid for a single process to deposit pond 9. Next, valves 8 and 4 are closed and opened respectively and the above-mentioned process is repeated.
