Abstract

PURPOSE: To shift phosphorus to supernatant, remove the supernatant to the outside of the system and remove the phosphorus in waste water efficiently by subjecting the waste water contg. phosphorus to limited aeration, and releasing the treated water then keeping the mixed liquids in the vessel still for a prescribed time, thence keeping the same still after stirring.
CONSTITUTION: Waste water is treated by a batch type activated sludge method, and after the treated water is released, the mixed liquids in the vessel contg. activated sludge are kept still for ≥3W4hr and are exposed to anaerobic conditions, whereby the phosphorus taken into the activated sludge is released to the outside of fungus bodies. Thence, the liquid is subjected to ventilated stirring or mechanical stirring for a short time to shift the phosphorus to the supernatant, and after it is kept still for a while, the supernatant contg. phosphorus at a high concn. is removed to the outside of the system.
