Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat an org. waste water efficiently and certainly by a method wherein a waste water containing a compound being decomposed biologically to change a pH of a liquid is added to the waste water to be treatd and, after biological treatment is carried out, a biological treatment system is controlled by a pH after treatment.
CONSTITUTION: An org. acid or an alkali such as NH4OH or a salt thereof which can be decomposed biologically and change a pH of a liquid by the decomposition or a waste water containing above described substance is added to the waste water to be treated in a predetermined amount corresponding to a variety or a property of waste water to be treated. Subsequently, if an org. waste water to be treated is treated by a biological treatment method, the added acid, alkali or salt is decomposed along with org. pollution substances in the waste water as well as decomposed and a pH of the treated liquid is changed. This pH value is detected as a pH of a liq. mixture of sludge in an aeration tank or a supernatant liquid of a precipitation tank and, corresponding to this detected value, a decomposition advancing degree of org. pollution substances is monitored and, corresponding to the decomposition advancing degree, an aeration amount or a returned sludge amount is increased or decreased.
