Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate successive die forging by providing a polygonal main punch and plural subpunches which fill the circumference of the main punch and enter into the main punch closing to it at a fixed space, and repeating the pressing by the subpunches and working by the main punch.
CONSTITUTION: A main punch having a hexagonal cross section is taken as an example, and six hexagonal subpunches for pressing are arranged in a tortoise shell pattern at a fixed space. A workpiece B to be worked is put in a die 3 placed under the punch group, and a subpunch 2 is lowered to press the work piece B. Then, the main punch 1 is lowered to a set position to form a dent 4. Punches 1, 2 are returned to original position. They are moved and stopped so that one of subpunches 2 comes above the dent 4. A subpunch 2 opposite to the dent 4 is inserted into the dent 4. The workpiece B is pressed by other subpunches 2 and a dent 5 is formed by the main punch 1. Since burrs 6 are formed between the dents 4 and 5, minute cracks produced are not caught in. After repeating this process and working, the burrs 6 are removed to obtain a product.
