Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the realization of flashless forging and the improvement in material yield by forming the rough-forged shape of the crankshaft part having a pair of opposing convex parts to a bar material for crankshaft and moving the excess metal of the crankshaft part to the adjoining crank throw parts.
CONSTITUTION: After punches 5, 5' are spread above and below and a bar material 1 is fed into a lower die 3, presses 9, 9 are pressed, then an upper die 3' lowers while holding the punch 5' and makes close contact with a lower die 3 at the die parting plane. At this time, the sizes of die cavities 4, 4' and the cavity portions at both ends are so made that the material 1 does not extrude to the die parting plane. Next, when a press 10 and lower press 11 are pressed, the punches 5, 5' enter along the respective through-holes of the upper and lower dies by way of master plates 6, 6', whereby the rough-forged shape having convex faces in the positions corresponding to the respective crankshaft parts 2a on the material 1 is formed. At the same time, the excess metal of the material 1 is moved toward the die cavities 4, 4' for adjoining crank throw parts 2b, whereby the material shortage in the die cavities is replenished.
