Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain such a detector as is simple and miniaturized in construction, ready for mass production and also for stable detection by an arrangement wherein a vibrator of magnetic material and a holding unit are constituted solidly, which is enclosed in a cup-shaped housing together with a magnetic flux detection means.
CONSTITUTION: Knocking vibrations arising on a cylinder block are transferred to a vibrator 21 of magnetic material which is solid with a holding unit through a housing 27. Frequency of the vibrations and natural vibration of a lead 21a itself in addition according to the strength make the vibrator 21 operate. Then, the lead 21a only vibrates in a magnetic path, and a voltage output proportional to change in magnetic flux is generated on a coil 25. The signal is then outputted to a detection circuit by two signal wires 31 through a terminal 28b provided on a hermetic seal 28a.
