Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain such detector as is high in sensitivity to knocking frequency and ready for mass production by an arrangement wherein a vibrator of magnetic material, a magnetic path and a magnetic flux detection means are enclosed in a cylindrical housing, and a viscous material is arranged around the vibrator.
CONSTITUTION: Knocking vibrations arising on a cylinder block are transferred to a vibrator 21 of magnetic material through a housing 27. Frequency of the vibrations and natural vibration of a lead 21a itself in addition according to the strength make the vibrator 21 operate. Then, the lead 21a only vibrates in a magnetic path filled with a viscous material 30, and a voltage output proportional to change in magnetic flux is generated on a coil 25. The signal is then outputted to a detection circuit by two signal wires 31 through a terminal 28b provided on a hermetic seal 28a.
