Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a knocking detector of a good noiseproof property, by providing plural magnetic-material lead pieces which vibrate according to knocking of an engine and by detecting change of the gap width of the common magnetic path dependent upon vibration of lead pieces.
CONSTITUTION: Knocking detector 2 is mounted on the cylinder block part of engine 1. Knocking is detected on the basis of the output signal of detector 2 by detecting circuit 3, and an ignition time is controlled to an optimum position according to the output of detecting circuit 3 by ignition time control unit 4. Engine 1 is fired through igniting unit 5 by the output signal of control unit 4. Magnetic resistance change dependent upon vibration of vibrating material 21 of magnetic materials having lead pieces 21A and 21B which have resonance characteristics for a near-by frequency is detected by a magnetic detecting means (consisting of core 23 and coil 24). As a result, resonance characteristics of plural lead pieces can be synthesized, and the output can be increased considerably to improve the noiseproof property.
