Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a rust-proof coating on a tumbled material by a method wherein a collective body of independent coating layers is formed by coating iron or iron alloy as a core with zinc or zinc alloy through the intermediary of an iron-zinc alloy layer and the body thus formed is projected on the surface of the tumbled material.
CONSTITUTION: Iron particles of a prescribed particle size and a melted body of metal zinc are mixed in a required weight ration and made to react to each other at the temperature of 400W500°C and for 2W10min, for instance, and the product through the reaction is cooled and crushed. By this, independent particles formed of iron cores coated with zinc and/or iron-zinc alloy layers of phases γ, δ, ζ, and η are obtained. The particles thus obtained are projected, as a material for blast, on to the surface of iron or iron alloy, and on the surface thus coated is further projected the zinc coating for the ground treatment of the coated surface when it is projected on to the surface of the material of metal system and the like before it is coated, or for the surface treatment when it is projected on to a soft material. Thereby a rust- proof layer is formed on the surface of the tumbled material and the beauty of the surface of the soft material can be maintained.
