Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve oxidation resistance and dispersibility by forming an oxide film layer and a film layer contg. the salt of lanolin fatty acid on the particle surfaces of metal magnetic powder.
CONSTITUTION: The metal magnetic powder comprising essentially metal iron is dispersed in an organic solvent such as toluene dissolved with the salt of lanolin fatty acid. If an oxygen-contg. gas is blown into this dispersion, an oxide film and a film contg. the salt of lanolin fatty acid are formed simultaneously. Calcium salt is most desirable as the salt of lanolin fatty acid and the amount of coating is made about 0.5W5wt% based on the weight of the metal magnetic powder. Oxidation resistance and dispersibility are considerably improved by the formation of these two films.
