Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the wearing properties by mixing the flourine oil and the metallic salt of fatty acid into the magnetic layer as the lubricant.
CONSTITUTION: The lubricant is mixed into the magnetic layer composed of the magnetic powder and the binding agent which is provided on the substrate of the polyester film and the like for the magnetic recording medium such as the magnetic tape or the like. The lubricant features the double-component system in which the fluorine oil and the metallic salt of fatty acid are combined in the weight ratio of, for example, 70:30W99.5:0.5. In this case, the wearing properties can be more enhanced if the nonmagnetic powder featuring the Mohs' hardness of over 6 is used together. The quantity of the lubricant to be used is set preferably to 0.1W20 part by weight to 100 of the magnetic powder, along with the nonmagnetic powder set to 0.5W5wt% to the magnetic powder respectively.
