Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An N6-acyl-3'-O(o-nitro-4- and/or 5-substituted or unsubstituted benzyl)adenosine-5'-monophosphate of formula I [X is acyl or (substituted) trityl; NB is o-nitrobenzyl], or its salt.
USE: Intermediate for the synthesis of 5'-triphosphoryladenylyl-(2'-5')-adenylyl-(2'- 5')-adenosine of formula II which is a protein-synthesis inhibiting material.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by (1) converting the 5'-OH group of N6-acyl or (substituted) trityl-3'-O(o-nitro-4- and/or 5-substituted or unsubstituted benzyl]adenosine to monophosphate, and if necessary, (2) converting the free acid thus obtained to a salt.
