Abstract

PURPOSE: To form potential images by making use of the differences in distributing voltages owing to a capacity changing layer and nevertheless to enable charging process, image exposure and developing to be performed successively with lapse of time, by laminating the layer of the capacity changing with electrodes and light irradiation and an isolated conductors.
CONSTITUTION: Light transmittable electrodes 5 comprising In2O3 etc., light shading electrodes 6 comprising Al etc. are provided respectively in a comb shape on a transparent substrate 2, and a capacity changing layer ( a layer of electrostatic capacity changing with light irradiation) 3 comprising ZnCdS etc. is provided thereon, and further isolating conductors 4 comprising discontinuous island-shaped conductors are provided thereon to form an electrophotographic receptor 1. If voltage is applied from an electric power source 7 between the light transmittable electrodes 5 and the light shading electrodes 6 by using the above-described photoreceptor 1 and image exposure is made from the substrate 2 side, only the potential of the isolating conductors 4 of the exposed part decreases and the potential images are formed on the surface of the photoreceptor 1. Thence, the thus obtained potential images are developed and transferred according to conventional methods, whereby the visible images are obtained.
