Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat resistant cast steel material capable of showing superior endurance even under severe conditions by specifying the contents of Si, Mn, Nb and N in a Cr-Ni cast steel composition.
CONSTITUTION: This cast steel material consists of, by weight, 0.3W0.5% C, 0.5W1.5% Si, 0.5W1.5% Mn, 22W28% Cr, 12W16% Ni, 1.0W2.0% Nb, ≤0.05% N and the balance essentially Fe. This material is an improved version of a Cr-Ni cast steel. By especially regulating the Si and Mn contents, the structure is stabilized to prevent the high temp. strength from lowering. Such a restricted amount of Nb is effective in preventing Cr type secondary carbide from precipitating in large quantities during use at high temp. The lowered N content enhances the endurance to thermal fatigue. Accordingly, this cast steel has satisfactory characteristics suitable for use as a material for a hearth roller, etc. which is repeatedly subjected to heating and cooling.
