Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a material with superior wear resistance for a roll having a prescribed large diameter or more used in cold rolling by adding a prescribed amount each of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo and V.
CONSTITUTION: This material for a roll for cold rolling consists of, by wt., 1W 2% C, ≤2% Si, ≤2% Mn, 2W4% Cr, <0.5% Mo, 0.8W2% V and the balance Fe with impurity elements. The composition of this roll material increases actively the amount of carbide dispersed in the tempered martensite matrix, and the carbide is dispersed uniformly and finely as special carbide of high hardness. Accordingly, the material has especially superior wear resistance, crack resistance and sufficient breaking resistance, and it is suitable for a work roll and a center roll having ≥250mmϕ for cold rolling.
