Abstract

PURPOSE: To almost prevent the deformation of a sleeve and to enhance the endurance by using a steel contg. specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, Cr and Ni as the material of the sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of the material of a sleeve for coiling a sheet is composed of, by weight, 0.15W0.4% C, <0.1% Si, <2% Mn, 0.8W1.5% Cr, 0.3W 2% Ni and the balance Fe. To the composition may be added one or more among 0.2W1% Mo, 0.05W0.3% Nb and 0.05W0.3% V. This steel is subjected to suitable hardening or tempering, e.g., heating to about 950°C, air cooling then furnace cooling at about 600°C. Thus, superior mechanical properties necessary for a sleeve are provided, deformation is hardly caused, and especially superior endurance is shown.
