Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary sticking of toner to an image carrier in nondevelopment by electrically insulating a toner carrier and a rear side-electrode of the image supporting body during the image is not developed. CONSTITUTION:In an image supporting body 1 consisting of a photosensitive drum, an image forming treatment is performed by a charger 2, an image exposing part 3, a developing device 4, a transfer charger 5, a cleaning device 6 and a destaticizing lamp 7. In the developing device an one component conductive toner is uniformly coated on a conduct ve toner carrying roller 8 an elastic member. The roller 8 approaches closely to the photosensitive drum at a developing position A, but it is kept in a gap over the thickness of the toner layer being coated. During the development the rear side-electrode of the photosensitive drum and the toner carrying roller are allowed to be conductive and is developed with a flight of the toner. When not developed, a switch is turned off to subject them to become an insulating condition, a flight of the toner to a latent image disappearing.
