Abstract
PURPOSE:To excellently clean the surface of an image carrier by applying tetraammonium salt to the surface of contacting edge of a cleaning blade which contacts with the image carrier having a resin layer of linear structure on its surface. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a photosensitive drum 1 consists of a resin layer of linear structure and the surface of the resin layer has >=2H hardness. A front exposure lamp 2 and corona dischargers 3 and 4 are arranged on the periphery of the drum 1 to form latent images. A developing device 6, a transfer material feeding device 7, a transfer corona discharger 8, and a cleaning blade 9 coated by tetraammonium salt to remove the developer remaining on the sensitive surface are allowed to contact with the drum 1. It is preferably that the thickness of the tetraammonium salt coated on the blade holder edge part is 1-50mum and contacting pressure is 1-800g/cm<2>. Thus, the surface of image carrier can be excellently cleaned up.
