Abstract

PURPOSE:To make efficient transfer without being affected by humidity, and to miniaturize an electrophotographic apparatus, by forming a toner image on a photoconductive layer having a nonadhesive surface, exposing the image to the vapor or mist of an organic solvent, overlaying a transfer material on the image, and pressing the material to transfer the image. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic or organic photoconductor particles 3 are dispersed into nonadhesive binder 4 such as silicone elastomer or fluorocarbon to form photoconductive layer on conductive substrate 1. Photosensitive drum 6 thus formed or the like is corona-charged 7, imagewise exposed, and a toner is attached to layer 2 with developing device 9. The toner image is exposed to the vapor or mist of solvent 10 to soften it, and transfer paper 11 is pressed to drum 6 with rubber roller 12 to transfer the toner image, thus permitting the toner image to be fixed without installing a special fixing device, any cleaning device of drum 6 to be unnecessary, and drum 6 to be used repeatedly only by erasing the electrostatic latent image with lamp 13.
