Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sharp images of high density having no developing irregularity by forming a developer holding member which holds a high resistance toner of a conductive flexible layer and a rigid buffer layer. CONSTITUTION:A developing device 1 is formed of a developer holding member 3 which carries a high resistance toner and a toner hopper 4 which supplies the toner to the member 3. The member 3 is formed of a conductive flexible layer 5, a rigid buffer layer 6 provided thereunder and a shaft 7. The layer 6 is formed of a material softer, that is, low in hardness than the flexible material on the outer side thereof. It is possible to increase the elasticiy of the layer 5 without degrading the conductivity over the entire part of the layer by using the developer holding member formed in this way. Therefore, the sharp images of high density having sharp images are obtained.
