Abstract
PURPOSE: To convert harmful substances into harmless ones, by charging incineration ashes of organic solid waste into a waste solution containing harmful substances such as a cyanide, hexavalent chromium, etc., and treating the mixed solution in a steam autoclave.
CONSTITUTION: A harmful waste solution, sludge, dehydrated cake, dried cake or the like containing one or more of harmful substances such as a cyanide, hexavalent chromium, etc., discharged from a plating factory, a sewage-disposing plant or the like, is mixed with incineration ashes of organic solid waste such as incineration ashes of municipal garbages, incineration ashes of sewage sludge, etc. in such a ratio that the water content after the nixing is 30W90%. The mixture is disposed for 1W2hr in a steam autoclave under a pressure of 5W50atm or so. The contained cyanide is decomposed to NH3, CO, CO2, etc., while the hexavalent chromium is reduced to a trivalent one by ferrous ion in the incineration ashes. Thus, the harmful substances are converted into harmless one.
