Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate handling, prevent heavy metals and other hamful products from dissolving out, and effect its reutilization, by solidifying particulate burnt- residue produced in the process of waste product incineration in an economical and lavor-saving manner.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge B exhausted from settling basin A is dehydrated by the dehydrator 1 and dried by the drying oven 2 using heat source of steam obtained from recovered waste heat by burning sludge. The dried sludge is fired by the burner 3 such as a rotary kiln to provide particulate residue C, which is then formed by the grain-making machine 6 and followed by treatment in the steam autoclave 7 to be solidified. Waste gas G from the burner 3 is cooled by exchanging heat in the waste-heat boiler 4, passes the dust collector 5 to remove dust, and is exhausted from the stack 8 to the atmosphere. If material F containing calcium as essential component is to be added to sludge, the material is charged either directly to the settling basin A or to the middle part between the basin A and the deheydrator 1.
