Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the heat and wear resistances of the surface of a structural material made of Mo or Mo alloy at high temp. by coating the surface with a thin layer of TiB2 or VB2. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a casting, a sintered product or the like made of Mo or Mo alloy is coated with TiB2 and/or VB2 by a vapor phase plating method in the form of a thin layer having 5-50mum thickness. Thus, a surface coated layer with very superior heat and wear resistances is obtd., and the surface is not oxidized or evaporated even if heated to about 1,400 deg.C in air or a vacuum.
