Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a member with a corrosion resistant coating film without deteriorating the adhesion of a thermally sprayed metal layer by forming the metal layer such as an Ni-Cr-Al-Y layer on the surface of a base metal and oxidizing the surface of the metal layer to form an oxidized film. CONSTITUTION:A material for thermal spraying such as Ni-Cr-Al-Y, Co-Cr-Al-Y or Co-Ni-Cr-Al-Y is thermally sprayed on the surface of a base metal. the resulting thermally sprayed metal layer is heat treated at about 300-1,100 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere. By this heat treatment, the surface of the metal layer is uniformly oxidized without deteriorating the adhesion of the metal layer to the base metal to form a dense oxidized film having high corrosion resistance.
