Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the heat resistance of the surface of a structural material made of Mo or Mo alloy at high temp. by coating the surface with a thin layer of Al2O3, SiO2, ZnO2 or TiO2. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a casting, a sintered product or the like made of Mo or Mo alloy is coated with >=1 kinds of oxides such as Al2O3, SiO2, ZnO2 and TiO2 by a vapor phase plating method in 5-50mum thickness. Thus, a surface layer with very superior heat and wear resistances is formed, and the surface of such a structural material made of Mo or Mo alloy is not oxidized or evaporated even at a high temp. such as 1,400 deg.C.
