Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the strength as well as the softening resistance of a zinc alloy, by adding the combination of lead and magnesium to zinc, and making cadmium to be added to thus prepared alloy if necessary. CONSTITUTION:Zn is added with both 0.05-1.5wt% of Pb and 0.0003-0.01wt% of Mg. Thus prepared Zn-Pb-Mg alloy can have high strength as well as excellent resistance to softening, without deteriorating good corrosion resistance of a Zn-Pb alloy. If it is required, the addition of 0.02-0.2wt% of Cd will further enhance these characteristics of the former Zn-Pb-Mg alloy.
